The home village of world 800m record holder David Rudisha plans to celebrate the Kenya athlete’s accomplishments by slaughtering 50 bulls as part of for a massive homecoming party, spikesmag.com reports.

Rudisha has enjoyed a remarkable past ten days or so by not once but twice breaking the world 800m mark. In Berlin on August 22 he trimmed 0.02 from Wilson Kipketer’s 13-year-old world record with a stunning 1:41.09 clocking in Berlin. Then seven days later the tall middle-distance star sliced another 0.08 from the time in Rieti, Italy.

Now according to the Daily Nation newspaper, who caught up with Rudisha’s older brother, Benson, his home village of Oltanki is planning “the mother of all parties" when the middle-distance returns home next week.

“All the arrangements are complete and we are set for the big party where 50 bulls will be slaughtered for guests,” said Benson.
