Former World Indoor 200m finalist Allyn Condon is set to become only the second British man in history to compete at both the Summer and Winter Olympics after booking his spot in the four-man bobsleigh team at next month’s Games in Vancouver, spikesmag.com reports.
The former Great British athletics man has a string of successes to his name, including former European and Commonwealth gold medallist in the 4x100m relay and has also competed in the Sydney Olympics.
After being inspired by the movie ‘Cool Runnings’ the sprinter turned to bobsleigh and will be making his debut for the British team at the Winter Olympics next month in Canada. He will be following Marcus Adams as the second Briton to compete in both the Summer and Winter Olympics.
Condon however is not the only British athlete to make the transition from athletics to bobsleigh. Those who have done so, includes the likes of former female British heptathlete Nicola Minichiello and her brakewoman partner Gillian Cooke, a former pole vaulter who represented Scotland at the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
