Wed 19/11/2008 13:27

Top international sprinter Churandy Martina proved quicker than, er, a line of falling dominoes.

The 24-year-old Netherlands Antilles sprinter with a 100m personal best of 9.93 beat the dominoes by 0.4 over 30m, clocking 3.81 as part of the tenth anniversary celebrations of Domino Day.

Martina, a spikesmag.com favourite who was recently featured on the site, took a break from his training schedule to join in the fun at the WTC Expo Centre in Leeuwarden in the Netherlands.

Some 4.3 million dominoes toppled during the two-hour live TV show which took 85 people from 13 countries eight weeks to set up.

Acrobat and former Miss Finland Salima Peippo, toppled the first domino while suspended from the ceiling by ropes.

Martina finished fourth in the 2008 Olympic 100m final and crossed the line second the 200m final in Beijing only to later be disqualified for running out of his lane.
