Hurdler Perri Shakes-Drayton on bags

Whether it is down Oxford Street or at the Westfield London Shopping Centre, watch out for European Under-23 400m hurdles champion and 2012 hopeful Perri Shakes-Drayton. She will be the one enthusiastically shopping for bags. Spikesmag.com found out more.

“I love to shop, so bad. Every girl likes to shop. I like to go to the West End, although I don’t have a shop in particular. If I like a shop I buy it. I’m that type of shopper. I don’t really look for bargains. I think I’ve missed the sales this year. I have expensive tastes. I’ve bought a leather jacket for £100, but my most expensive item is my Louis Vuitton bag, which my mum got me for my birthday. I love bags. I have about ten designer bags – a mixture of Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Mark Nason. It’s my mum’s influence. You’ve got to have an expensive bag. I keep them in two draws at home.

It just depends on the occasion as to which bag and which colour I choose. My favourite though is my brown Louis Vuitton. It is so big it holds everything. I wouldn’t take it with me to a major championship, though.

The one thing I struggle with, though, is shopping for shoes. I am a size eight and some shops struggle to stock that size. I never have trouble with a pair of spikes, Nike sort me out for that. I once bought a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses with my winnings from a race in Italy, but I don’t like them anymore. It was just a stage I was going through.”
