Hey everyone,
I’m sending you warm greetings all the way from Miami, Florida! I am so excited that, after what seems to have been the longest season ever, I am finally on my break - well deserved I might add!
It felt a little strange packing a suitcase minus my spikes, tracksuit and crunchy nut cornflakes (a must for race day) but I managed it. Crammed my case full of pretty dresses and bikinis, and now have been here just over a week. I’m loving it!
I’m here with my training partners Montell Douglas, Vic Barr and Tara Bird, a nice little quartet, and we've had so much fun already! Exhaustion is beginning to set in and we are only halfway but it's all good. Miami is absolutely wild and we are situated right in the heart of it all. We got a great deal on our accommodation at Beach Paradise Hotel Ocean drive, which is literally a stone's throw from the crashing waves of the sea and beautiful beach. We are known by all the staff and nearly all the locals as ‘the Olympians from England’. It has its perks - VIP service pretty much everywhere! I think it’s the accents…
We've also had a little day cruise over to the Bahamas which was so relaxing and beautiful, and inspired ideas for our next vacation, although the major downside was the sea sickness I suffered on the way home. Not fun, because everything and everyone was upside down.
I do have one little confession. I have been doing a few cheeky runs, but nothing too strenuous. It’s always easier in the blazing sunshine, plus it’s a great way to find my way around. Oh, and it keeps off the pounds that could easily build up from all the scrummy food, especially cajun fries and Oreo cheesecake!
Anyway that’s it for now, until next time. I’m off to have a few more Strawberry Mojitos… I love Miami!
