US hurdler Joanna Hayes talks doughnuts

I am finally on my way home!  But, before I can get there we have to make a few more pick ups and drops in the truck but, I am ok with that because I will be sleeping in my own bed in less than a week!  I am inching my way across the US to get home and during that time I am still stopping and hanging out a bit.
I went to the Casino two days ago in Oklahoma…not such a good idea!  I am not he luckiest person when it comes to gambling but I did have fun. I played the slot machines so I did not lose too much money but, it was money none-the-less!  I like to play black jack, I am pretty successful at that but, I did not play that in this particular casino, I think when I get back to California I will hit Casino Morongo  If there were any good loads headed to Las Vegas then that is where I would be headed.
Right now I am in Dallas, Texas and will be headed to Houston, Texas in a couple of hours.  Last night I spent time with my great friend Darvis “Doc” Patton and his wife Crystal.  They live here in Dallas, we went out to dinner and I went to their new house and hung out there for a while. I had a great time just as I always do with them.  I would have loved to stay longer but I have to get home this week because we are having a gathering this Saturday at Allyson Felix’s house.
It is an end of the season/beginning of the season small party. Training begins soon and next year is a big year!  So, after the party I will be home getting myself caught up on bills and preparing my body for battle. It should not take long to adjust and get back on track because I am used to the training, I have been doing it for what seems like forever now!  Besides that I will be getting myself back on my healthy diet but, I still have some time off and I am going to eat a little more junk food before I have to quit cold turkey!
I missed donuts during the track season so I have been eating them at all the  truck stops that sell Krispy Kreme chocolate covered custard filled donuts.  Mmmmmm so good!  Those are my favorite donuts, much more fancy than when I was growing up; I loved eating chocolate bars from a place called Winchell’s.  Donuts have gotten much more fancy and expensive as I have gotten older!  I guess there is no exception to the inflation rule when it comes to one of my favorite treats.  What are my other favorite treats you ask?  Or didn’t you?  I will tell you anyway…I love, love, love cheesecake, ice cream, and peach cobbler.  My favorite kind of cheesecake is every kind.  My favorite ice cream is jamocha almond fudge, mango, but I will eat just about any other flavors and the peach cobbler has to be homemade, I learned how to make it last year and it is quite good.  I am going to make some for our little party and see if other people think it is as good as I do!

Next blog…I will be typing form my own living room
