Hello everyone,
I’m back from the beautiful South Beach, Miami. What I thought was going to be the holiday from hell turned into the best holiday I’ve ever had!
I say that because, I started day one by losing a significant amount of holiday cash. I wont say how I lost it, as I am slightly embarrassed and my Mum will kill me when she reads this and finds out, so I’ll keep that one to myself for now and hopefully laugh about it later!
But boy-oh-boy, Miami is a place that every party person should experience… Long Hot Days… Long Sandy Beaches… Long Island Ice Teas (Not too many mind)!
I went with a group of friends from home and met up with my training partner Rikki Fifton and Team GB mates, Marilyn Okoro, Montell Douglas and Vikki Barr. It was the Miami carnival weekend when we arrived, so we partied HARD! By day four I was actually all partied out… I think I must be showing my age. It was a good feeling to have a break and not run or train or worry about what I eat for once… but I did get the urge to run on the beach, just once, and I woke up the subsequent morning with sore hamstrings.
So, now I am home and a little bit upset I missed all the Olympic homecoming activities, like meeting the Prime Minster, the Queen and the parade bus! My Dad was also upset that I missed those things too. It was just bad timing for me! Maybe Queen Liz will send me a ‘sorry I missed you card’, I wonder if she will feed me scones and jam? But you know what? I won’t be able to eat them for a while seeing as I am actually writing this blog with one less wisdom tooth. I had it taken out yesterday and I feel and LOOK like I have been in 3 rounds with Ricky Hatton! I’ve done some nervewracking things, but getting my wisdom tooth out has to be up there with the Olympic final and my first English Schools final!
So now I am home and I have no plans to fly anywhere until the end of the year, where I may pay a visit to my parents' home country of Ghana in West Africa. I have not been for ages, so I am looking forward to that. I am also looking to set up a few Olympic projects alongside my friend Nicola Sackey in Ghana for the youngsters, so watch this space for more info.
