British sprinter Jeanette Kwakye marvels at some athletes' dance moves

01/10/2008 11:19:42

Guess What? IT. IS.ALL.OVER.

Fat lady won’t you sing for me?!?! Hahahaha…

Yes. The 2008 athletics season is finished. Wow!

So. How did it all end? Let me brief you. Just before my last blog I told you that I had 3 more races abroad. Although it is a hard time of the season to motivate yourself, it is also quite a good time to enjoy yourself and meet new friends on the race circuit from all over the world!

All the athletes are a lot more relaxed so no one is hardly throwing dagger stares at the end of the season!! So because of this it is just a matter of racing to place, rather than running ultra fast (unless your name starts with Asafa or ends in Bolt!!) So, I give a little peep of what we get up to after the party!!

Poland was the first stop… Sczezin to be exact! Freezing tempretures, but a FANTASTIC crowd. I won there and received a trophy and about 6 months worth of free coffee, as the sponsors were coffee makers! I needed the caffeine boost to keep up with the Jamaican boys on the dance floor at the afterparty, as Ainsley Waugh and Asafa Powell demonstrate!! I just stood there hands on hips, astonished!

Three days later I literally hopped off of a flight from London to Shanghai, China. I raced the next day and got a decent 3rd place behind, Veronica Campbell and Lauryn Williams. No jet lag there…
I was ‘privileged’ enough to witness a Charlies Angels tribute performance by Marilyn Okoro, Tasha Danvers and Sarah Claxton.

However there was plenty of jet lag effect in Daegu, South Korea 5 days later!! I didn’t do so well there, but I was shattered and missing home, but the party after did ease the symptoms of home sickness!!

So I am now home and have not gone to bed earlier than 2am each day because of events and things!
One of which was a comedy show performance by my good friend Kojo the comedian. He filled out the Hackney Empire theatre in London and gave me a Q&A on stage, whilst making fun of me and the faces I pull when I am running!!
It was his last show in the UK as he is moving to New York to pursue bigger projects.
He like me, is very blessed to be doing something that he loves and wish him all the best!

So coming up… MIAMI!! I cannot contain my excitement, but I am trying my HARDEST to get my mind into gear for the 2009 winter season… but not before a mojito or three!
