British sprinter is full of Eastern promise for her September running

15/09/2008 09:39:42

I feel like I haven’t posted in AGES!!

In fact, it has been 4 weeks since the games, I and still learning lessons about just exactly what it takes to get to the top.
Unfortunately for me, these lessons have been delivered in SPANKINGS on the race circuit. First in Gateshead then in Brussels.

I find it incredible that seasoned track and field athletes can come away from a major championships and put out fast times, when at times in recent weeks, I couldn’t think about, let alone run fast.

However, that all changed VERY QUICKLY! After my coach Michael warned me, if I am to be the best in the world, my attitude to September racing has to change.

So I’m back in a mini prep phase for the last part of my season, which includes two Far East races that I am looking forward to.  The first in Shanghai and the second in Daegu South Korea. It should be fun as I feel like I finally have my legs back after the games!!

I also am looking forward to events when I get back from racing… One is my Cousins baby sons christening, which I am honoured to be God Mother. This is followed by my annual squad dinner with my training group. Then… HOLIDAY in Miami, with the girls!!

We are going to Miami to sample the carnival and the Beach, it will be the first time in years I have packed without putting spikes or lycras in my suitcase!!

I cant wait to post to you from there; you can try and and count how many track and field references will be in that blog! I doubt you will use both hands!!

But away from the wild social life that awaits me in October. I would also like to take time and reflect on what an incredible breakthrough season this has been for me.  It makes me look forward to next year with great anticipation and aspiration. I now understand I need to raise my game and be one of the best ALL year round.

So hopefully from the great Far East I will have more wonderful stories to blog to you next time.
